Film editor of “The Favourite” and “Poor Things,” nominated twice for an Oscar

Yorgos Mavropsaridis is one of the most important Greek editors with international recognition, known for his long-term collaboration with director Yorgos Lanthimos and his decisive contribution to shaping the cinematic identity of his films.

A graduate of the London Film School, he has worked for decades in film, television, and advertising, developing an editing style that stands out for its narrative precision, evocative rhythm, and psychological insight.

His work gained international recognition with the film “The Favourite” (2018), for which he received his first Oscar nomination for Best Film Editing. This was followed by “Poor Things” (2023), which earned him a second Oscar nomination, confirming his position among the world’s leading editors.

He has edited some of the most iconic films of contemporary Greek cinema, such as “Dogtooth,” “The Lobster,” and “The Killing of a Sacred Deer,” contributing significantly to the formation of the international phenomenon known as the Greek Weird Wave.

With a deep sense of rhythm and dramaturgy, Giorgos Mavropsaridis is considered one of the director’s most essential collaborators—not only as an editing technician, but as a co-narrator of the cinematic experience.
