Michael Chiklis, an American actor, director and producer of Greek descent, was born on 30 August 1963 in Lowell, Massachusetts. From an early age, he displayed a keen interest in acting and participated in theatre productions from the age of five. He studied dramatic arts at Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, earning his theatre degree. He first found major television success in 1991 with the ABC series The Commish, in which he played police commissioner Tony Scali. However, it was in 2002 that he really made a significant mark on the industry. He took on the role of Detective Vic Mackey in the widely acclaimed series The Shield. This performance earned him two prestigious awards: an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe Award. Following that success, he appeared in several popular film and television productions, including Fantastic Four, No Ordinary Family and American Horror Story: Freak Show and Gotham. In addition to his work as an actor, Chiklis has also pursued a career as a director, producer and musician, releasing a rock album with his band.
